How To Dress Up Our Home As Per Our Kid’s Needs (Copy)
Today, I have a very special episode for you because we're going to talk about dressing up our home for our kids' needs. We're going to become a childhood designer and set up five important zones to transform our spaces to facilitate the growth environment for our kids.
You can work in that same space while your kids are playing by themselves without any screens.
I truly believe in facilitating a growth environment, then forcing the growth of our kids.
Five important zones to transform our spaces
These are some five play zones that we all need in our homes that can help our children flourish and enjoy themselves for hours. And one of the most important things that our kids gain from these play zones is they learn to play independently.
Let's look at these zones one at a time.
Focus Zone
The name pretty much explains it all. This is a place where they can focus on their work and academics or projects. It's an area for experimental study and exploration. Being able to focus is strongly linked with their visual environment. Why not create that space and give them that space where they can focus?
Quiet Zone
This is a place to rest, read, and unwind with book cushions. This place will help them regulate their emotions better, and it serves as a place for the timing to calm down.
Movement Zone
This is a place where they can jump, stretch, roll, hop, spin, cartwheel, and go upside down. We need to provide that space to them, and this space is crucially important for our children to move that stagnant energy out of their way. Also, movement plays an important role in their growth and development.
Messy Zone
This is where our children can explore the tactile materials. They can create things and get messy. It's a place to create, express, and explore sensory materials. This is a place that can help them develop fine motor skills and it soothes them.
If you're listening to me and saying, “Oh my gosh! I need five rooms for all these!” You don't need five different rooms to create these zones. We just need a designated corner. This could be in the living room, could be in the kitchen, or it could be in the basement. We just need to facilitate and name the corners and create that area. Instead of designing our living rooms and kitchen according to society, let's stress them up according to our kids' needs and their growth.
Key Takeaway
Just do what's important. How can we facilitate growth and so do what's necessary? We don't need our luxurious house or extra space to create these zones. Just little corners are enough. I hope you create these zones, these growth areas in your home with your kids involved in them. And they'll have fun.
